Practise Teeline

Make it accurate. Then make it fluent.

Good practice has a purpose. Use dictation to strengthen recall, reading to improve recognition and controlled speed work to reduce hesitation without sacrificing accurate outlines.

Speed practice

Build pace methodically with controlled practice. Choose material suited to your current level and protect accuracy as the speed rises.

A useful practice session

Short, focused and complete.

A practice session should do more than fill a page. Work on one clear objective, check what you wrote and use the result to decide what needs attention next.

1

Set one purpose

Choose accuracy, a particular principle, outline recognition or controlled speed. Do not try to fix everything at once.

2

Write without interruption

Complete the passage before correcting it. This shows what you can recall when the next word is already arriving.

3

Read your notes back

Transcription reveals ambiguous outlines, omissions and hesitation far more clearly than simply looking over the page.

4

Correct and repeat

Check uncertain outlines, rewrite problem words and repeat the exercise only when repetition serves a specific purpose.

Practice that works

Train the whole skill.

Teeline is both a writing and reading system. Balanced practice develops recognition, recall, accuracy, transcription and pace together.

  • Read Teeline as well as writing it.
  • Transcribe enough work to discover what is genuinely readable.
  • Repeat difficult outlines before they become habitual errors.
  • Use slower dictation when accuracy begins to collapse.
  • Practise regularly, even when the available session is short.

The practice library

More is being built.

Professional Teeline will grow into a structured practice library, with resources that support learning rather than simply adding volume.

In development

Reading practice

Progressive Teeline passages will help learners recognise outlines quickly and read connected shorthand with greater fluency.

In development

Chapter practice

Exercises aligned with the Coursebook will give each principle focused reinforcement before learners move on.
